About us and Blog: Or, How did we get these rare and collectible books? It was not planned. The parent VistaBooks publishing got the idea of reprinting first-person or participant-observer accounts of events important in American history and making them available for sale at interested parks and museums relating to those events. The idea was to make the stories of those sites more real than could later historians. Material was needed for these stories and so prowls were made of out-of-print bookstores. When a potential title for reprinting was discovered, it was purchased to await its turn for publication. Some of these sources resulted in nearly one hundred reprinted titles--but most did not. In both cases, however, the original material was retained--and has been sitting on shelves for decades ever since--and in many cases increasing in value. Other material was acquired for resale from other publishers but never sold and likewise in many cases has become hafrd to find if not scarce. After over 50 years of these programs, VistaBooks is now downsizing and much of this material will never be reprinted. Hence VistaBooks VINTAGE was formed to find homes for books, magazines, and other Americana ephemera of importance that should be retained for the future. Hopefully you as a reader will find even more meaningful the reading of accounts on pages where they appeared first or early--as well as help continue their phsical existence rather than face an uncertain destiny.
